How to make Indian Style Wraps at home | Veg Frankie Recipe | Veg Kathi Roll Recipe | Veg Frankie Roll Recipe With Aloo Tikki – detailed photo and video recipe
Veg Frankie originated from streets of Kolkatta ,now a very popular street food of India. Popularly, It’s also known as Kathi/Kati roll or Frankie roll. Veg Frankie with potato filling is the most common and loved variety of Veggie Wraps. And it’s also best way to use leftover chapati.
Basically spiced vegetables are wrapped in chapati or wrap bread and spicy Green Coriander Chutney and Tomato Ketchup is added for that extra zing. Overall a simple yet delicious Frankie recipe which will be loved by one and all. Now a days , frankie is available in many many variations.
The Veg Frankie recipe is very easy . Home made wraps are made from combination of whole wheat and all purpose flour. Though , one can make from any if this one flour . The Aloo Tikkis are very easy to assemble and are pan roasted to give crunchy flavour. Also added some shredded cabbage , Onion rings for extra crunch . One can also add some extra toppings like Mayonnaise, Sliced tomato, cucumber, lettuce or sometimes pickles. Such fusion frankies are also in trend.
For this recipe , we have prepared wrap form wheat : maida combination. One can make wraps from leftover Chapatis too. Just apply some chutney and sauce on Roti , some dry vegetable and some salad on top of it. Wrap and enjoy . Best option for Tiffin Box too .
Be creative while making stuffing . Here , I have shared very easy and most favourite stuffing recipe. Adding some marinated and roasted Paneer is also a good option …
For important Notes …
- Add some bread crumbs, in stuffing if it has more moisture.
- Make filling little more spicy to make Frankie tongue tickling and more delicious.
- Only wheat flour can be used to make wrap.
- Always cook wraps very lightly, only till light brown spots. Crispy or over cooked wraps will not give perfect soft texture.
- Stuffing can be anything as per your creativity.
- For a quick version, use leftover Chapati / Roti and dry vegetable. Apply some chutney and some salad. Wrap is ready. Take my words , it’s actually very tasty and very filling .

Yummilicious Veg Frankie. I remember when it was such a popular dish in India that for all the fetes held in Mombasa, there would be a veg Frankie stall. I read on some stalls in Mumbai recently that veg Frankie was invented in Mumbai… however, where it originates from doesn’t matter, as long as we can still enjoy this delicious street food.
