Paneer Do Pyaaza is an appealing paneer dish with luscious paneer or cottage cheese cubes cooked in a rich and creamy onion based gravy. Easy , Quick to prepare and super delicious in taste.
Do pyaza means double the amount of onions or the onions are added twice. in this particular recipe, the onions are doubled as well as added twice at two different stages of cooking. so basically there will be a good amount of onions in this dish.

So lets see the detailed recipe with step wise pics…
- 1 cup cubed Paneer / Cottage cheese
- 2 medium sized Onions ( for cube pieces or layers)
- 2 medium sized onions, finely chopped
- 3 medium sized Tomatoes
- 1 tsp Ginger Chilli Paste
- 1 tsp Garlic Paste (Can use dry chutney or simple make paste by mortal pestle)
- 1 tsp Dry Fenugreek Leaves
- ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
- ½ tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 3 tsp Finely chopped Fresh Coriander
- 3 tbsp low fat cream, i used AMUL FRESH CREAM
- 1/2 tsp butter for sauteing the blanched onions
- 2 tbsp for butter for Gravy
- salt as required
- 1 inch cinnamon
- 3 green cardamoms
- 2 to 3 cloves
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 to 3 dry red chilies
Blanch Tomatoes, for this first boil water in a pan till the water begins to boil. add the tomatoes and let them cook for a minute or two. then switch off the flame. cover the pan and let the tomatoes blanch in the hot water for about 20 to 25 minutes. Peel the skin from blanched tomatoes and make a puree.
Cut Half or quarter Onions. Separate the layers . In a pan take Butter , once hot add layered onions and saute till light brown from the edges. Keep it aside.
In same kadai take butter add all Dry spices, roast for a minute . Now add Chopped Onions , saute till transparent. Now add Ginger Chilli Paste , Garlic Paste saute for a minute and then add Tomato Puree and Dry Fenugreek Leaves. Cook till it starts leaving bit of ghee from sides of pan. Now add all other spices , chopped coriander and add 1/2 cup warm water. Add Paneer Cubes , mix well. Cover the lid and cook for 2-3 mins. Lastly add Sauted Onions and cook for more a minute. Add fresh cream , stir gently and cook for few more seconds..
Serve hot with Roti, Paratha , Naan or Plain Rice. Hope you all will enjoy the easy recipe.
