This sweet and Spicy Flattened Rice Chevda / chivda is so tasty and perfect savory for Festival time . It can be best accompany with Sweets or Dal -Rice or Tea / Coffee or for some munching at evening , that CHHOTI CHHOTI BHUKH 🙂 🙂
On DIWALI Time, generally we Indians make number of dishes . Some sweet and some Savory . After All Festival is all about Celebrations. And each celebration is incomplete without some yummy food 🙂
Here will show the FRIED variety of Rice Flakes. Roasted Poha Chivda make from Thin Rice Flakes while fried one needs normal thick Rice flakes which is easily available in stores.One just have to be careful while frying. Take small quantity of oil to fry as After Frying Poha , Oil will turn Black and if u fry more even Poha will turn Black. Oil must be piping hot else Rice flakes wont rise and tasty wont be that crunchy. After Fry try take out access oil by placing on Kitchen Paper or generally news paper for some time as Rice flake absorb lot of OIL. Its very calorie loaded snack so avoid frequent consumption..
I have added Cashews and Raisins which are purely optional, but adding in small quantity will enhance the taste . I have Added SPICY MASALA SEV to make it more tasty. one can use normal Sev also. Rest All Ingredients are very common and very easily available in each Kitchen.
so now lets checkout the detailed recipe..
- 1/2 kg. Rice flakes
- 2/3 cup Peanuts
- 2/3 Cup Roasted Gram Dal
- Handful Curry Leaves
- Handful Cashews
- Handful Raisins
- 1/2 cup Powder Sugar (Adjust the quantity as per taste )
- Turmeric Powder
- Chilli Powder
- Oil to fry
Here i have not mentioned the quantity of spices as its purely depended on once choice.
Sieve Rice flakes and keep aside . Prepare all ingredients to be added in this chiwda..
In a Kadai take oil. Allow it to get real hot. For frying one can use, a small strainer , a utensil which is easily available in market for frying purpose. Its very helpful when u have to fry small flakes or anything which is small. so easily u can take out from oil and without any mess.
Fry Peanuts, Roasted Gram Dal, Curry Leaves, Cashews and Raisins. Fry One by one, dont fry all together as all have different frying time. Keep aside on oil absorbing paper.
Fry Rice flakes and keep aside on oil absorbing Paper. Sprinkle red chilli powder , salt and turmeric powder. Don’t add powdered sugar when its too hot.
Now everything nicely. when rice flakes gets bit cool down , add all fried stuff , powdered sugar and dry mango powder.Mix nicely , then lastly add Masala sev …
Mix gently. Make sure all spices cover rice flakes equally.. Store in Air tight container. And enjoy the super tasty, yummy Chevda ..
