This Thepla s are a very healthy and very light on stomach. I prepared with few drop of oil. Very easy to make . It taste best too with some Potato Gravy or Tea or coffee or even when not so hot. Here i served with Fresh curd and Masala Raw Mango.
Thepla is a very popular item of Gujarat and loved by all Worldwide. This is very delicious variety of Thepla. In common language, Thepla is almost like Spiced Paratha, though difference in kneading dough.
INGREDIENTS :
- 1.5 cup Grated Bottle Guard
- 2.5 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- Salt
- 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 2/3 tsp Pickle Masala
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/4 tsp Hing
- 1/2 cup Curd (Preferably Slightly Sour in taste)
- 1 tsp Oil
METHOD:
Wash and peel Bottle Guard. Grate it thin. If its thick in size, it will not be easy to roll like roti.
Add all spices to grated bottle guard, mix well. Now add Whole wheat Flour , curd and Oil. Mix very well and knead a dough with some water. As Bottle guard will release some water, we dont need much water to knead the dough. Dough should not be too soft or too stiff,
Now take a small portion of dough. On a dusted surface roll like a chapati . It should be thin in thickness. Place on a hot griddle. Allow it to cook on both side on medium flame then with few drops oil roast both the sides like paratha.
Serve hot . Well it taste equally good when its not hot, specially with Tea or a cup of coffee 🙂 🙂
I served with Fresh curd and Raw Mango.
