Matar Paratha is a vegetarian Indian Styled Whole Wheat Flat Bread stuffed with a spicy, tasty and soft mixture of cooked Green Peas. Pair these tasty paratha with Curd and Pickle or with some curry or with Hot cup of Tea /Coffee , anyhow it is a tastes treat . Serve stuffed peas paratha in the Breakfast or in Dinner.

Matar Paratha Recipe | Easy Green Peas Stuffed Paratha

  • All Purpose flour can be used for Paratha but Generally in India, Stuffed Paratha is made with Whole Wheat Flour.
  • Knead Soft dough, so at time of rolling stuffing wont comeout and it turns easy to roll.
  • One can avoid Onion and Garlic in stuffing.
  • For stuffing, one can use Fresh Green Peas or the Frozen ones.
  • Roll the stuffed paratha gently and medium thick for perfect result.
  • For better results, use Ghee to make paratha. Ghee gives awesome taste and texture to Paratha. Though one can use Oil too.

Ingredients

    To make dough
  • 1.5 cup Wheat Flour
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • For Stuffing

  • 1.25 cup Green Peas (fresh /frozen)
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Dry Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Carom Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 5 to 6 Garlic Cloves, chopped
  • 1 Big sized Onion, chopped
  • 3 to 4 Green Chillies
  • 1 tsp grated Ginger
  • Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Dhaniya Powder
  • 1 tbsp Gram Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Dry Mango Powder
  • 2/3 cup Fresh Coriander, chopped

Directions

  • To make dough, seive flour. Add some salt. Mix well.
  • Add water little by little and knead soft dough. Add 1 tsp Oil and Knead.
  • Cover the dough and keep aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • To make Stuffing, heat oil in pan. Add coriander seeds, Fennel Seeds and Carom Seeds.
  • Also add chopped Garlic, cumin seeds. Roast for few seconds or till everything turns little dark in colour.
  • Add chopped Onions, Green Chillies and Ginger. Saute till Onions turns pink.
  • Add Green Peas, mix well. Cover the pan and Cook till Green peas is cooked fully. No need to add water while cooking
  • Now, add Salt, Turmeric Powder, Chaat Masala, Coriander Powder. Saute for a minute more.
  • Later, switch off the flame and allow the mixture to cool .
  • Now, grind the greenpeas into coarse form. DON’T ADD WATER WHILE GRINDING.
  • Stuffing mixture is ready..
  • Knead the prepared dough for few seconds and make medium sized dough ball.
  • Sprinkle some dry flour on it and spread a little with fingers. Place green peaa stuffing in center.
  • Seal the edges properly. Roll the partha gently . It should be little thick..
  • Don’t try to roll very thin, else the stuffing may come out.
  • Heat a Tava and place rolled paratha over it.
  • Cook till brown spots appear on surface. Flip the side and cook again.
  • Spread Ghee / Oil on both sides. Cook till crispy.
  • Serve Hot with Curd and Pickle. Or with Hot cup of Tea / Coffee.
