Split Yellow Moong Dal and Masala puri is a deadly combination. You will be in love with this dish. Extremely Delicious and best for Brunch idea or early dinner.


  • 1 cup Split Yellow Moong Dal
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • 2 Red Dry Chilli
  • salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Coriander Powder
  • Lemon Juice as per taste

For Masala Puri

  • 2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • salt
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2/3 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 3-4 tsp Oil
  • Oil to Fry


First wash and clean Moong Dal. Soak in warm water for at last 1 hour.

In a non stick pan take Ghee and Oil. When hot add Cumin seeds, broken Red Dry chilli ย and curry leaves. Now add Hing and red chilli powder with a glass of water. As we add water , the whole temper will come up with nice colour and aroma. Add all other spices and Moong dal. Once it start boiling cover the lid and cook for 8-9 mins or till its almost done.

Make sure we don’t need mashy dal so add water according to that. Moongdal will be cooked easily.

Switch off the gas and don’t open the lid for 5-8 mins. Pour Lemon Juice , mix well and Serve.

For Masala Puri:

Mix Wheat flour, oil and spices. Knead a semi tight dough. Allow it to rest for 30 mins, After that take few drops of oil and knead this dough nicely.

Now roll small puris and fry in hot oil. Take out and keep on oil absorbent paper. Serve hot.
