The Homemade Rose Syrup Recipe is a simple recipe with no coloring or preservatives. The rose syrup is made from fresh rose petals. You can also use a store dried petals to make the rose syrup. The Rose Syrup can be used in Ice creams, Milkshakes or Juices or even make the chilled Rose Milk for summers.
Its my mom’s recipe. It’s very easy and no-mess recipe .. with simple steps one can make perfect Rose Syrup at home only. When we (me and my sister) were kids , every year my mom use to make this delicious Rose Syrup .. Needless to say , my Mom is a great cook. Whatever I have learnt it’s all because of her.. Thanks Mummy.
After marriage even I make this Rose Syrup at my home with all instruction of my mom. This year thought to share even on blog.
- The final color of the syrup , purely depends on the color of flowers..
- If you wish , you can add Food color. In this recipe I have not added any.
- One can add 1-2 clove also for extra fragrance and taste ..
- One can store this syrup for couple of months in refrigerator..
INGREDIENTS:
- 20-25 Roses
- 1.5 cup sugar
- 4 to 5 drops Rose Essence
- 2 drops lemon juice
- A Pinch of Food color (Optional )
METHOD:
Firstly , we need to clean the flowers. On petals there might be dirt and impurities . Take out the petals from the Rose. ..
Now we will wash this petals so all the impurities and all the anther and other tiny stuffs will be removed. Add 1.5 glass of fresh drinking water to the bowl of petals .. with soft hands wash the petals . Now take it out and Spread on a vorton cloth for 2 minutes.
Take this petals in a small vessel , add almost 1/2 glass water , cover it and keep in pressure cooker . On slow flame , cook for 2 to 3 whistles.. Switch off the flame and allow it to cool by its own .
Till our petals getting cool , let’s make sugar syrup for it.. In a pan , take 1.5 cup sugar and 1 cup water. On a slow flame cook till all sugar fully dissolves. Also add 3 to 4 drops of fresh lemon juice. It will not allow crystallization in sugar syrup. Keep stirring occasionally. Cook till it gets 2 thread consistency..
Once cooked petals are cool enough, one can see the water inside vessel turned into beautiful color and lovely fragrant water. All the goodness of flower will be transferred to water. The aroma of fresh flower will amaze you. Keep this cooked petals on a strainer. With back side of spoon nicely press the petals and take out all the fluids from petals.
Did you noticed that beautiful color of rose extract… 🙂 🙂
Now we will add this extract into the hot sugar syrup. On a medium flame , allow it to cook till again it get 1 thread consistency.. Switch off the gas . Once it get bit cool , add few drops of Rose Essence. Mix it and allow it to cool completely.
Once cooled, store in a air tight glass jar.. Use 1-2 tsp ( or as per taste) of this syrup , for a glass of chilled milk or water.

Hope you all like this too as much me and my family enjoying since years…
Happy Cooking 🙂 🙂
