In simple language a vegetable made in south indian style call PORIYAL. In such recipe , minimum oil and spices are used. So one can say its more tasty and healthy then spices loaded vegetables.
Traditional People make almost all the vegetable with different combination in this way. We at home also make so many varieties , among that this Beans Poriyal is most common favourite . The taste and aroma is awesome.One can just have this vegetable with spoon. No need of Roti or Rice 🙂 🙂
INGREDIENTS
- 500 gm Beans
- 2/3 cup Fresh Coconut, grated
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Urad Dal
- 4-5 Green Chilli Chopped
- 1-2 Red Dry Chilli (Optional)
- Curry Leaves
- 2/3 tsp Hing
- Salt
METHOD:
After wash, cut beans in small pieces. Well you can cut as per your liking. In a non stick kadai , take oil. When hot add Urad dal, green chilli, mustard seeds, red chilli, . When all done add curry leaves and hind.
Sprinkle salt as per taste. Mix well. Sprinkle one or two tsp water on it . Close the lid and allow it to cook . Keep stirring occasionally .
When you find this almost done, add grated coconut. mix well . Cook for more 1-2 mins.
Serve hot with Rice, sambhar or with Roti.
