APPLE CINNAMON JAM

This is a super Easy and Delicious Jam. In this rainy season , Enjoy your cup of hot tea/coffee with Hot toast and Jam.  Try once at home and take my words, you will never purchase it from market. Simple method and ready with 3 ingredients only 🙂 🙂

One can make this flavourful  Jam in Microwave too. I made on Gas only.Both recipes are given .

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup chopped Apple
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1.5 cup Water
  • 1 small piece of Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • 1 -2 Clove (Optional)

METHOD:

Wash the apples, peel and remove the stalks. Dice the apples (shapes don’t matter) and put in a pan with the lemon juice, cloves, cinnamon stick and water.cover the lid and cook on low heat until the apples are tender and reduced to a pulp. After 15-20 minutes of cooking, when the apples have lost their color and start to look opaque, they’re done.

Take the apples off the heat and sieve them to the last drop! you will sieve out cinnamon, cloves, and all the unwanted stuff. What you’re left with is pure pulp.
Put the pulp in a non stick pan and add the sugar, Cinnamon Powder. Let the sugar melt on low heat. Once the sugar melts and the mixture looks smooth to you, bring it to a roaring boil and keep stirring. The jam has to boil for 2-3 minutes with constant stirring.
How to check  whether jam is done or not.
Take a teaspoon of the hot jam onto the cold plate and let it rest for 30 seconds. Tip bowl to one side; jam should be a soft gel that moves slightly. If mixture is thin and runs down side of bowl, the gel is too soft.  it is done.
If You feel its over cooked or over dry.. sprinkle some drops of water over it and cook for couple of seconds again.

Store in sterilized jars and consume within a month. Enjoy this sunshine on a toast with butter and tea!

For Microwave:

  1. Put chopped apples in a microwave proof bowl. Microwave covered for 3 minutes or till apples are soft. Mash well.
  2. Add sugar and lemon juice to this. Microwave uncovered for 4-5 minutes or till dry.
  3. Add cinnamon powder. Mix well. Transfer to an airtight jar and refrigerate. Serve
