This spicy and flavourful dry chutney can be served with Idli , Khakhra, Mathri , Thepla etc. Just pour some sesame oil on this chutney and serve or just sprinkle it dry only. This dry chutney can be stored for a month or so..
INGREDIENTS ::
- 1 cup Roasted Gram Dal
- 2/3 cup sesame seeds
- 5 to 6 Dry Red Chilli
- Salt
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder (Optional)
- 1/2 tsp Dry Mango Powder
- 2/3 tsp Asafoetida
METHOD::
For this dry chutney , we just have to dry roast the main ingredients .. For this , take a heavy bottom wok or a nonstick pan. No need add any oil while roasting.
Roast sesame ,roasted gram dal and red dry chilli one by one . Let it cool a bit.
Later in a mixer jar , take roasted ingredients , salt , turmeric powder , asafoetida , dry mango powder and red chilli powder.
One can also add some Sugar depends on taste buds. I didn’t add any sugar.
Grind into smooth or little coarse powder. Store in a glass or air tight container .
Notes ::
- Adding Kashmiri Red Chilli powder is purely optional. I have added for nice colour.
- Sugar also can be added to this chutney , if you like mild sweet version .
- Store in a clean and air tight jar.
Beautiful chutney ! Like to try this asap.

I can imagine myself having this chutney with thepla, not too overpowering and so easy to make. For how long it stays fresh?

Tried this recipe, but added few dry roasted curry leaves (roasted the leaves until they are crispy). Came out good with fragrance.
