Mint Lachcha Paratha – A delicious and multi-layered Indian Paratha made from Wheat Flour , mint and few spices. The texture and taste of this paratha is simply tantalizing … This paratha goes very well with any curry , or Onion raita or Tikhari ( Spiced Curd) or just with a tangy Pickle .
These flavourful flat breads are famous and served in almost every Indian restaurant all around the world. In this recipe I have given the mint flavour in paratha as we get in restaurant.. Fresh Mint Leaves , gives very nice aroma and taste in Paratha.
This process looks lengthy , but its very easy. Few tricks and you are done. Still if you are running out of time, one can make normal paratha from the same dough .
There are many ways to make this lachcha paratha, here I am showing you the most basic and easiest way..
INGREDIENTS:
For Dough
- 1/2 cup finely chopped Fresh Mint Leaves
- 3 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- Salt
- 2 tbsp Oil
For Spice MIx
- 1 tsp Roasted Cumin Powder
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
- 1/2 tsp Pepper Powder
Method :
Take a large Mixing Bowl and sieve whole wheat flour in it. Add salt , oil and chopped mint leaves. mix well using fingers..
Start kneading dough by adding little by little water . Knead soft dough. Cover and keep aside to rest for 20-25 mins.
To make spice mix, mix cumin powder, chaat masala and pepper powder . spice mix is ready. One can add dried mint powder in this.
To roll paratha, divide the dough into lemon size balls. Take the ball the roll big circular roti. Apply Ghee/ Oil on top. This Ghee/ Oil will help to make layers While roasting paratha, so please be generous 🙂 🙂
Sprinkle some spice mix on it. Now make pleat in the rolled paratha by taking 1-2 cm wide strip and fold it zigzag.. Make sure the spiced layer remains on top . Now roll it inward , push the outer edge of paratha inwards so that it get pressed. Gently press this roll using palm and make flat.
With soft hands roll the paratha. Dont give much pressure as the layers might get infused and layers wont get separate while roasting .
To roast Paratha , heat a tawa/skillet. Once hot place the rolled paratha and roast. when bubble starts appearing , flip the paratha and apply oil on top. flip again and roast the paratha both sides with oil . Roast till Golden brown color.
Remove paratha from tawa. Using both hands press sightly across paratha so that all layers get separated …
Serve hot..
