Chole is a very popular punjabi dish. This dish has won everyone’s heart even in other countries . A very tasty , tangy dish is very easy to make..


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Kabuli Chana (White Chick Peas )
  • 1 cup Tomatoes Finely Chopped
  • 1 1/2 cup Onions Finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Dry Fenugreek Leaves
  • 1 tsp Chilli Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic Chutney diluted in 2-3 tsp water (You can use garlic paste too)
  • 2 tsp Chole Masala (I used Everest)
  • 2/3 cup Chopped Coriander
  • 2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Cumin Powder
  • salt as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp Hing
  • Lemon as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 5-6 tsp Oil
  • A pinch Cooking soda

Method :

Wash and soak Chana for at least 6-7 hrs , or in lukewarm water for at least 3 hrs. Now cook in pressure cooker , add salt and a pinch of cooking soda. Cook for 3-4 whistles on Slow flame.

In a heavy bottom kadai take oil. When turned hot add cumin seeds, when crackle add hing and onions. Saute for half a minute then add kasuri methi, garlic , tomatoes, salt and saute for a minute. Now add Red chilli powder, turmeric Powder, Coriander powder, chole masala and cook for a minute.

Add chhole and some chopped coriander (Some keep aside for garnishing). Add some water (i used which we drain after boil) and allow it to cook for 8-10 mins. Stir occasionally.

Served hot with Bhatura. Even Roti also taste yummy with this dish..
